What Is Pitchborneo?
pitchborneo is a pitching competition inviting entrepreneurs of all levels, from newcomers to seasoned professionals, to present their business concepts for a chance to secure RM200,000 in funding and startup capital. Previously named Sabah Got Ideas (SGI), this competition has supported numerous local entrepreneurs in launching successful ventures over the past 12 years. Evolving from SGI ten years ago, pitchborneo has been rebranded and is now bigger, better, and more impactful than ever before. In 2024, pitchborneo returns with enhancements and innovations under the theme 'Embrace Innovation Edition'..

HOW DOES IT WORKS?

3 ZONES
pitchborneo 2024: Embrace Innovation Edition will be held in three zones: Zone A (Interior & Lower East Coast), Zone B (North & Upper East Coast), and Zone C (West Coast).
30 PARTICIPANTS
pitchborneo 2024: Embrace Innovation Edition is limited to 30 participants per zone, on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration fee is *RM100 per person. (Refer T&C)

Please refer to the tentative schedule: 10 days online workshop followed by a 2-day physical workshop.

IDEA DEVELOPMENT
No idea? No problem. We'll assist you. Whether you have existing business concepts or are starting from scratch, we'll guide you through the workshop to develop your ideas.

MENTORSHIP
During and after the program, you'll receive valuable support from our outstanding mentors, including past winners and successful entrepreneurs.

PITCHING
The 10-day online workshop will help you develop and enhance your idea, giving it the maximum potential required to compete during the pitching process.

FINALIST SELECTION
In the workshop's final stage, participants pitch their ideas for 5 minutes and answer questions for 3 minutes. The top 8 ideas will move on to compete for funding in the Finale!

During the FINALE of pitchborneo 2024: Embrace Innovation Edition competition, each of the top ten (10) business ideas will receive RM 20,000.00

Can I Pitch In Bahasa Melayu?
A.Boleh bah..Mix english with Bahasa also can.
Q.Do I Have to Stay in the Hotel While in the Program?
A.It is up to you..You can choose whether to stay or not.By the way accommodation is free during workshop.
Q.What is the Minimum Requirement to Qualify and Join pitchborneo?
A.In order to be a participant in pitchborneo 2023 : Food Security Innovation Edition, recipient must be at least 18 age or more, Sabahan or permanent resident in Sabah more than 3 years. However, some rules may have exception if the organizer find it reasonable.
Q.I Want to Join the Program in Zon Pedalaman, but I'm From Kota Kinabalu. Is It Allowed?
A.Yes, but still need to check the occupancy from that particular zone.
Q.Do I Need to Have an Establish Business to be Eligible to Enter This pitchborneo Competition?
A.You don’t need to own a company to enter pitchborneo competition. As long you have passion or business idea that you think can be commercialize, then you are the one that we’re looking for!
Q.Do I Need to Prepare Anything Before or During the Program?
A.For those who only have business idea, you can bring along your own laptop to the program and mentors will help you with the presentation slide. As for those who have prototype of your idea, you can bring along as well to the program.
Q.Do we have to follow the theme for the idea that we pitch??
A.Yes!
Q.Can I Replace Someone Else to Take My Place For the Program?
A.Yes. You can replace someone else to take your place for the program, but you need to inform us two weeks prior before to the organizer and give reasonable reason.
Q.What is the Fee for Registering As a Participant?
A.We only charge RM100.00 nett with free limited edition T-Shirt per person for individual. RM200.00 is the charge for team of two (2) persons with free limited edition T-Shirt, unless you are an existing member of SATA then you have to pay for commitment fee which will be refund during the program. You will benefit free accommodation as well as free food throughout the program.
Q.What Will I Gain From pitchborneo?
A.You will be expose with tips of creating your own business canvas, tips on pitching the right way as well as preparing presentation slide. You also will get free mentoring session with certified mentors who had experience in business industries. On top of that, the most reward you will gain from pitchborneo is a chance to win up to RM200,000.00 worth of funding.
Q.Is It Only Open for Individual Participant?
A.It is open for individual and team participation. Anyway, we only allowed a maximum of two(2) members in a team
Q.Will I be Eligible to Enter pitchborneo If I Already Received Any Grant or Funding From Somewhere Else?
A.Unfortunately you cannot enter pitchborneo if you already received any grant or funding above RM20k from anywhere with the same idea unless you join this program with different idea
Q.Will I Get Refund After Paying the Commitment Fee and At the End, I Decided to Witdraw From the Program?
A.No. We do not entertain any reason of withdrawing from the program. We only give refund to SATA member who paid commitment
